Apple has announced that its Apple TV+ video streaming service will be free this weekend from Saturday, January 4 to Sunday, January 5.

Anyone will be able to stream everything on Apple TV+ during the two-day period without paying a subscription. Anyone who opens the TV app on their Apple device, console, or smart TV can stream shows for free between January 4 and January 5.

The company made the announcement on its Apple TV+ account on X. It doesn’t sound like you’ll need an account for free streaming during the promotional period.

The ‌‌Apple TV‌‌+ subscription is $10/month and can be shared with up to six people in your Family Sharing circle. Apple provides a free 7-day trial or a 30-day trial as part of the Apple One subscription bundles starting at $20/month.

Apple TV+ offers free streaming this weekend

Apple TV+ has teased new seasons of popular shows, like the popular sci-fi psychological thriller “Severance” which will enter its second season soon. Another sci-fi series, “Silos” is currently streaming its second season. Apple TV+ is also home to some great original movies, including “Blitz” and “Fly Me to the Moon.”

Apple TV+ has over 250 original TV shows and films, which pales in comparison with Netflix. Although Apple TV+ only hosts original content, Apple occasionally hosts a set of older movies licensed from Hollywood studios for a limited time.

Apple TV+ will gain more viewership during this promotional period, but it needs an ad-supported tier to grow its audience faster. The service currently lacks advertisements, but that might change as Apple allegedly held talks with the United Kingdom’s ratings agency to “discuss potential options for tracking adverts” on the service, indicating an ad-supported tier could be in the works.
