Finally, Apple has released a native Apple Music Classical app for CarPlay months after CarPlay support briefly appeared in a previous version.

If your vehicle supports CarPlay, you can now use the Apple Music Classical app to enjoy classical pieces while driving. Apple Music Classical is available on iPhone, iPad and CarPlay, but there are no Mac and Apple TV versions as of yet.

The CarPlay app lets you access your Apple Music Classical playlists, library, recommendations and other sections of the app on the car’s built-in display.

This feature requires Apple Music Classical version 2.1 or later. If your copy of the app doesn’t automatically update to the latest version, for which you must have automatic updates enabled, you can get the latest version manually by opening the Apple Music Classical page on the App Store and clicking the Update button. If you don’t see the button, your copy of the app is already up to date.

Apple Music Classical picks up CarPlay and Siri support

Apple Music Classical is even more useful on CarPlay with support for voice commands via Siri. If your iPhone runs iOS 18.1 or later, you can use Siri on CarPlay to search Apple Music Classical for composers, artists, works and instruments.

Apple Music Classical requires an Apple Music subscription. The app is home to more than five million classical music tracks, with features such as exclusive artwork, rich metadata, curated playlists and recommendations, biographies, etc.

So far, Siri search works in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Dutch. Apple has said that support for additional languages will arrive over time.
