Satechi’s latest 3-in-1 accessory is both a flat Qi2 wireless charging dock and a magnetic stand with MagSafe perks
Satechi has upgraded its multi-device Trio wireless charging stand with enhanced power delivery courtesy of the Qi2 protocol, refreshed design and other perks.
Introducing the three-in-one Qi2 Trio Wireless Charging Pad, which can be folded when traveling and doubles as a magnetic stand for your iPhone. It ships with a 45W US power adapter, UK/EU prongs and a USB-C power cable in the box, and is available for $130 from Satechi’s web store and Amazon.
Upgrading to the latest Qi2 charging protocol has brought MagSafe-like perks, including 15W charging speed (vs. 7.5W with standard Qi) and magnetic snapping and alignment. That’s unsurprising as Apple has contributed the MagSafe specification to the Qi2 standard, first publicly announced in early 2023.
Every iPhone from the iPhone 12 (2020) onward is compatible with both MagSafe and Qi2 standards, barring the iPhone SE and iPhone 11 (which only supports the original Qi protocol). On the other hand, Android phones that support Qi2 are few and far between. There’s the HMD Skyline and not much anything else, really. The Android camp will eventually embrace Qi2, but it’ll take a while.
Satechi unveils the new Qi2 Trio Wireless Charging Pad
Like all Satechi products, this one complements your Apple aesthetic with its premium-grade aluminum build. The 15W Qi2 charger has a soft silicone charging puck, protecting your phone. It folds flat but don’t you worry a thing, as Satechi has engineered durable hinges that it says won’t weaken over time.
The base is eco-friendly vegan leather that feels soft to the touch. There are two additional chargers at the base. An Apple Watch charging disk opens from the base to accommodate your watch, delivering 5W of power (it supports fast charging on Apple Watch Series 7 and newer and all Apple Watch Ultra models).
It supports charging in landscape orientation, which enables the Nightstand Mode feature in watchOS. On top of that, the new Trio sports a charging surface at the base for charging your AirPods with 5W of power.
