It’s the weekend again people, and you know what that means: time for another edition of our Apps of the Week roundup! This week we have some excellent picks for you, including a great-looking travel planner and guide, a fun weather app with GIFs, and an app for writing family newsletters. And as always, we’ve selected a fun game for you to check out.

Travel Planner Guide: Tripsy

Here is an app I am surprised we haven’t covered before (I checked). It’s called Tripsy, and besides having an awesome name and Home Screen icon, it also has a great UI aimed at helping you plan and manage your trips. You can organize all your travel information, from flights and hotels to restaurants and tours, and you can receive flight updates via push alerts so you are always on time. You can also check 10-day forecasts, store and share your adventures from your trip, and much more. It’s customizable, it looks great, and there are tons of features. I’m trying this out the next time I travel, for sure.

Brzzy Weather

Next up is another app with a great name and icon. It’s called Brzzy Weather, and it offers real-time weather reports and future forecasts, in GIFs. That’s right, instead of just showing you boring old graphics, Brzzy delivers you the weather news via fun and familiar GIF images. Additionally, the app also sports a vibrant design, with dynamic background colors and holographic effects, to give the UI added personality—as if it needed it. There’s really not much else to say here. This isn’t a feature-packed app for storm chasers or anything. It’s just a simple weather app, with a fun twist.

Letterloop

If you’re under the age of 20, you may not remember this, but there was a time before social media and email got really popular where friends and families would keep each other updated via newsletters. Well, old school, meet new school, with Letterloop. That’s right, here is an app designed to build and distribute newsletters to a select group of friends or family members. You can customize your Letterloop’s content, schedule, and settings, and choose from a number of pre-written questions to answer that don’t normally come up in your group chats. It’s a chance to get a little more personal and a little more creative than any other form of messaging or posting.

El Paso, Elsewhere

El Paso, Elsewhere is apparently a popular Steam title that recently made its way to iOS. I was [naturally] drawn in by the cool name, the cool icon with a vampire on it, and the unique graphics in the screenshots that are a mix of vintage low-poly with more modern colors and lighting. The game itself is pretty interesting too. It’s a supernatural Neo-noir third-person shooter in which you are tasked with hunting werewolves, fallen agents, and other damned creatures in a vivid slow motion love letter to action classics. It all takes place in a reality-shifting motel that just gained 46 stories…underground. Features include an original hip-hop soundtrack, voiceovers, and more. Play the beginning for free, the rest for $5. No ads.
