LeminLimez teases Nugget Mobile, an on-device system customization tool based on SparseRestore

iOS developer LeminLimez has been hard at work on their popular Nugget system customization tool for iOS & iPadOS 17.0 and later, not only enabling a full-blown graphical user interface (GUI) to replace the less popular command line interface (CLI), but also attempting to remove the computer element entirely.

In an announcement shared via the Cowabunga Discord channel, LeminLimez said a mobile version of Nugget would be coming soon, offering an on-device system customization experience without having to tether up to a computer to make those changes.

The experience would work a lot like the existing MikotoX project does, except that the preliminary teaser for Nugget Mobile appears to offer a substantially more aesthetically pleasing user interface. It’s already in testing by Discord Nitro Boosters and ko-fi contributors – in essence, those who pay get early access to the beta.

Another thing that makes Nugget Mobile like MikotoX is that you need the pairing file to use it.

So far, Nugget Mobile supports the following features:

  • All of Nugget’s MobileGestalt tweaks (you no longer need to supply your own MobileGestault file)
  • Nugget’s feature flags for iOS 18.0+
  • Cowabunga Lite’s Status Bar tweaks
  • iOS 16 support

As with any MobileGestalt-tampering system, there is a risk of boot-looping your device if you utilize conflicting modifications or use on an incompatible device. That said, it is highly recommended that you back up all your data before proceeding with such a tool.

Nugget Mobile utilizes the SparseRestore exploit, the same one used by the TrollRestore TrollStore installation method that supports iOS & iPadOS 17.0. Starting with the mobile version, Nugget Mobile will support iOS & iPadOS versions 16, 17, and 18.0 RC /18.1 beta 3.

While Nugget Mobile isn’t yet available to the general public, we expect that it will be launching in the foreseeable future and look forward to its release. As always, the iDB team will keep our readers apprised of when that happens. You can also join the Cowabunga Discord server if you want to follow the project’s development yourself.
