Apple will celebrate national parks globally by holding an activity challenge in the Fitness app for Apple Watch owners on August 25.

The company will notify Apple Watch owners about the upcoming challenge by pushing a notification to their wrist a day or two earlier. “On August 25, let’s celebrate national parks around the world,” the notification reads.

To win this challenge, you must record any 20-minute or longer workout using Apple’s own Workout app or any third-party app that records workout sessions to the Health database. Doing so will earn you a virtual achievement medal in the Fitness app on your Apple Watch and iPhone, along with animated stickers that you can use in iMessage chats and FaceTime video calls on all devices.

Apple Watch fitness challenges keep on coming

Every now and then, Apple challenges Apple Watch owners with various fitness challenges celebrating events like Valentine’s Day, Thanksgiving, New Year, Earth Day, etc. Some celebrate ethnicity and gender-focused events such as Lunar New Year, Black History Month and International Women’s Day.

Apple Watch owners will get new fitness features when the watchOS 11 software is released in the fall. watchOS 11 brings several fitness-related improvements, including new metrics like fitness load and a new Vitals app.

The system requirements for watchOS 11 have changed compared with those for watchOS 10 because the upcoming software does not support the Apple Watch Series 4 (2018), Apple Watch Series 5 (2019) and Apple Watch SE (2020) models.
