We are back, folks! It’s the weekend again, and that means it’s time for another Apps of the Week roundup. I am personally psyched about this week’s picks, which include a random exercise app, a digital companion for pet owners, and a RAW B&W photo app. And as always, we have selected a fun game for you to check out.

Sporadic: Fitness Challenge

Here is an app with a cool concept. It’s called Sporadic, and it aims to help you stay motivated and moving by presenting random exercise challenges. You get to choose what exercises you want to do, and the difficulty level, and you can either do them alone or compete against friends. Example: “Do 14 pushups,” or the more challenging, “Bike 5 miles.” Again, it’s very customizable, so you are only doing the types of exercises you want, and you can use Home Screen widgets to track your progress and get a streak going. What a fun and innovative way to stay active!

Wiglo: Dog Parenting Is A Game

Taking care of a dog might seem fairly easy and straightforward, but staring down at a new puppy can be intimidating. That’s where Wiglo comes in. It sort of gamifies the whole process of taking care of a pet, taking you through vet visits and potty training, and other important aspects of pet parenthood. You can track their mood, improve their behavior with bite-sized lessons, store important info like vaccination records, and much more. It’s really a cool concept, and I love the idea of a new, overwhelmed pet owner gaining confidence by downloading an app like this.

Zerocam | Mono

Look, there are a ton of apps out there that allow you to take photos in black and white. Heck, the stock Camera app does it, or at least you can add the effect immediately after. But that’s not going to stop me from highlighting Zerocam Mono, a minimal, focused app that lets you do one thing: shoot RAW black-and-white photos. Seriously, there are no settings, effects, or editing. Just a single button to take your photo. I think more people should try stuff like this out—you may like it. There is something about a true B&W photo that makes your images look extra artsy.

Sports Party Go

Here is another fun and interesting concept: a video game where your body is the controller. Sports Party Go uses advanced AI whole-body fitness tracking to accurately recognize every movement you make and mirror that on-screen. There are multiple mini-games to choose from, but they are mostly arcade titles with high-tempo music to make sureyou keep moving. There is some real science at work here, too—in addition to burning calories, the somatosensory movements help sharpen your coordination. The app will also track your exercise data and can be streamed to an Apple TV via AirPlay. It’s a really nice, compelling package, that doesn’t currently have any ads or IAPs.
