It’s the weekend again people, and thanks to Labor Day, it’s a long one! That means it’s time for another edition of our Apps of the Week roundup, and this week we have some great picks for you. We have an external drive manager, a collaborative catch-all for links, notes and documents, and a weather app for road trips. And as always, we’ve selected a fun game for you to check out.

Bit Buddy

Meet Bit Buddy, the ultimate device log for creatives. It aims to help you keep track of your external drives including SSDs, computers, game consoles, servers, and more. Keep an archive of things like location of the drives, drive capacity, dedicated web/IP addresses, and what type of files are stored. This is obviously a very niche utility, specifically geared towards creatives-types that have multiple or even dozens of external drives, but it looks great and it’s completely free, so if you are at all in need of such an app, this one seems worth checking out.

New.space – Share, Note & Plan

This app’s tagline does a great job of breaking down its purpose: “cut through the chaos of links, files & docs and make teamwork a breeze with new.space.” Features include, obviously, the ability to pin documents, images, links, and the ability to quickly share access to the space with others with a simple QR code. This seems like a rather niche app as well, but I wonder if you couldn’t just use it as your personal catch-all link/file/note app. It also seems like the developers should aim this at friends and family groups for things like planning vacations and organizing events.

Wayther: Weather Along Route

Here’s a clever idea: an app specifically geared towards road trips. I am sure there are similar apps out there, but if you are like me and aren’t currently aware of that, here’s one to check out. Wayther makes it fast and easy to plan safer and more cost-effective trips by choosing when to drive and what route to take based on the weather. Avoid unsafe travel conditions like snow or ice, and reduce travel costs by avoiding heavy rainfalls or strong headwind. The app can account for temperature, wind, rain/snow/sleet, visibility, national weather alerts, sunrise and set, and more, up to 10 days in advance. Your first three trips are free.

Punch Club 2: Fast Forward

Yep, the title got me. I can’t just not click on a game called Punch Club 2. This suggests there is a special club, specifically for punching, and that just sounds awesome. So awesome in fact, I was sure I had mentioned this game before—although a quick search tells me I haven’t. Anyway, in this game you punch, kick, and cheat your way to becoming the best fighter around. You can also take on quests as a consultant to help the police solve crimes, or take jobs with the mafia, and earn things like new moves, access to new fight schools, dollars, and points. Yeah, this game has everything, including 80s nostalgia, and it just sounds like a rad way to spend your weekend. The first hour or so is free, and then you must pay to play.
