Vision Pro: You can now relax at the moody Lake Vrangla virtual environment
Apple’s new dynamic landscape environment takes owners of the Vision Pro headset to Lake Vrangla, a breathtaking location in Norway.
If you own Vision Pro, open the Environments section from the Home view and you should see the latest arrival, Lake Vrangla. Select it to be transported to a moody scene representing Lake Vrangla in Oslo, Norway, engulfed in fog.
If you don’t see it, give an over-the-air update some more time to finish downloading. The new environment is also accessible if you’re running the visionOS 2 beta.
After checking out Lake Vrangla on Apple Maps, Google Maps and YouTube, it doesn’t look to me like Apple’s version has been edited much.
The new Lake Vrangla environment hits Vision Pro
The scene is available in two versions, Day and Night. The Night version, shot during sunset, is especially impressive as it reflects your video in the water.
It reminds me of the Mount Hood environment, which offers a Night version, too, and is a great setting for watching movies as the video reflects in the water.
Lake Vrangla joins existing dynamic landscapes on the Vision Pro like Haleakalā, Joshua Tree, Yosemite, Mount Hood and even the moon. When visionOS 2 launches this fall, Vision Pro owners will get another new environment: Bora Bora.
What is the Environments feature on the Vision Pro?
The Environments feature is one of the best use cases for the headset. These are breathtaking vistas that Apple captured with its Immersive Video cameras, where you can spend some time relaxing and emptying your mind to clear your thoughts.
Turning the Digital Crown dial adjusts your level of immersion, from simultaneously seeing your real world and a virtual environment to being completely engulfed in VR to the point where you’re shut out entirely of your physical world.
Watching video is another compelling use case for Environments. Whether you’re watching a movie in the TV app or web videos in Safari from YouTube, Netflix, Amazon and other sites, you can do so in your favorite environment.
