What comes after Friday? Well, technically Saturday. But the answer I am looking for is: the weekend! This means it’s time for another Apps of the Week roundup, and this week, we have some great picks for you, including a habit tracker with pretty widgets, a 3D human atlas, and a powerful notes app. And as always, we’ve selected a fun game for you to check out.

Checker – Track Anything

I have to admit, I got sucked in by the pretty widgets again. Checker is… well, like any other habit-tracking app out there. You set up a goal like saving money, you manually track your daily efforts towards that goal, and at the end of the month you get to look at this beautiful 30-day chart that shows you how much progress you’ve made. I like how simple and straightforward the interface is, and again, I love the widgets, but I can’t pretend like there is anything groundbreaking here. You get to set and track three goals for free with no ads, but if you want more, you’ll have to pay the $10 IAP.

VOKA 3D Human Anatomy AR Atlas

This app shouldn’t need too much of a sales pitch. It’s called VOKA 3D, and it’s a human anatomy app that aims to help you learn about bones, muscles, systems, and much more. This is a complete catalog full of medically accurate 3D models and other interesting information, such as rare diseases and groundbreaking studies. There’s even an AR mode that displays 4D+ pathologies in a real-world environment. As cool as this all sounds, it’s worth pointing out that the app is on version 5 and has just 9 total ratings, so that’s always a bit of a red flag that everything may not work as advertised. But come on, what was I going to do—not mention the human anatomy AR atlas?

Capacities – Notes & PKM

I use the stock notes app a lot. I mean a lot. But I still love trying new notes app out. The latest one to come across my desk is called Capacities. It’s the mobile version of an already-popular desktop app that offers a lot of powerful features such as templates, custom page layouts, full-text search, support for all media types, tagging, block linking, rich contextual backlinks, and much more. Seriously, the further you dig into what this app can do, the more impressive it gets. Some features, like the AI assistant, smart queries, and task actions, are hidden behind a $10/month paywall, but most of what I mentioned here is available in the free version.

Metal Slug: Awakening-Season1

Fans of the popular gaming franchise Metal Slug will be happy to know that it has finally found its way to mobile. It’s a new adventure in the Metal Slug universe with the same characters and gameplay loved by fans, mixed with high-quality graphics and new features like World Adventure, 3-play Team-up, and Roguelike challenges. You can also mix and match different weapons with different characters and compete in real-time battles in the Ultimate Arena. I know this all sounds like a bunch of buzzwords, but the early reviews on this are pretty positive. There are just two real downsides: there is no controller support as of yet, and it’s free-to-play, so at some point you will hit that screen.
