Apple is expected to use LG Display as a secondary vendor for OLED screens on the iPhone SE4 launching next year, TheElec has learned.

Gijong Lee for TheElec:

The brand is Cupertino’s budget model and has used BOE as the sole vendor for its screens for a while now.

Next year, BOE will be the primary vendor while LG Display, as a secondary vendor, will provide the screens mostly for its legacy models, sources said.

The latest iPhone SE4 will use OLED screens used in the iPhone 13 in the past, which will make it easy for display makers to manufacture.

Apple has been fostering BOE as its OLED screen vendor for iPhones to curb the influence of Samsung Display and LG Display.

The more suppliers Apple can pit against each other to drive down prices, the better.
