Apple Intelligence will be free, but the iPhone maker allegedly plans to introduce a paid Apple Intelligence+ service with extra features sometime next year.

“There’s an opportunity to turn AI features and other software into paid services,” Mark Gurman said in the latest edition of his Power On newsletter for Bloomberg.

“Though Apple Intelligence will be free to start, the long-term plan is to make money off the capabilities. The company could eventually launch something like Apple Intelligence+ with extra features that users pay monthly fees for.”

Apple Intelligence+ could bring extra features for a fee

That wouldn’t be unheard of. I pay Apple a fee every month for cloud storage or iCloud+, which brings me cool perks like iCloud Private Relay, Hide My Email, etc. As Gurman noted, Apple will also get a percentage of the subscription revenue from every AI partner in iOS 18 that it brings on board.

Gurman didn’t provide further details, but Apple Intelligence+ could also be a standalone service. Another possibility would be to add Intelligence+ as one of the perks of the Apple One subscriptions, which bundles multiple paid services like Arcade, TV, Music, News+ and Fitness+ at a reduced price.

Apple Intelligence+ for Vision Pro in 2025

The author also wrote in the newsletter that Apple Intelligence is coming to the Vision Pro headset, likely with visionOS 3 in 2025. Apple Intelligence requires a device powered by Apple silicon with at least 8 gigabytes of unified memory.
Now, the M1 chip powering the Vision Pro is equipped with 16 gigabytes of RAM. However, Apple reportedly prioritized bringing the latest AI-powered features to the iPhone, iPad and Mac before implementing them on the Vision Pro.
