Apple TV+ will explore the origins of “Tetris,” the iconic tile-matching video game
Deadline reports that Apple TV+ has slotted into “Tetris,” an upcoming film that explores the unique story behind the groundbreaking video game. Starring British actor Taron Egerton with Jon S. Baird directing, principal photography for “Tetris” will start next month in Scotland.

Egerton is playing Henk Rogers, a Dutch video game designer who first secured the rights to distribute ‘Tetris’ on consoles, where it found popularity. He was heavily involved in a dispute that arose over the franchise’s copyright in the 1980s. Noah Pink penned the screenplay.
“Tetris” is produced by Matthew Vaughn’s Marv Films. A release date has yet to be determined.
Producers still have to cast the project’s other roles. For instance, it’s currently unknown which actor is going to portray Russian software engineer Alexey Pajitnov, who created the original “Tetris” video game back in 1984, and the businessmen Robert and Kevin Maxwell.
