Sometimes the number of emails we get is so out of hand that it’s hard to manage them all. And when you throw spam into the mix, it’s even worse. You can certainly move unwanted emails to the trash, but that doesn’t stop them from continuing to email you.

With an update to the Mail app in iOS 13, you can take more control over those unwanted emails. Yes, it’s finally here; a way to block people from emailing you in the Mail app. Here’s how easy it is to do.

Block a sender in Apple Mail

If you want to block a sender in Apple Mail, keep in mind that this action syncs across your devices (yay!) and automatically moves those sender’s messages to the Trash.

1) Open the Mail app and select an email from the person you want to block.

2) Tap in the email header and then tap to select the sender.

3) Choose Block this Contact.

4) Confirm the action by tapping Block this Contact once more.

Now you’ll have no more worries about spending time ridding yourself of emails from that person. And if you have a change of heart down the road, you can follow these same steps and select Unblock this Contact.

Wrapping it up

It seems like such a simple feature to have and that makes it long overdue. But at least we can now block people from emailing us and move onto those important messages.

What are your thoughts, are you happy to see this feature finally arrive in the Mail app?
