Apple’s spectacular retail store located beneath the pyramid of the iconic Louvre museum, which has been open for nine years, is shuttering later this month, the company announced.
Located at the Carrousel du Louvre shopping mall underneath the pyramid in front of the world-famous Louvre museum in Paris, France, the flagships retail store is closing its doors permanently on Saturday, October 27. The retail location has seen over 12 million visitors since opening in 2009 and was Apple’s first store in France.
“It was a pleasure to serve you for 9 years. The store will close on October 27,” reads a machine-translated message on the Apple Retail website.
As first spotted by 9to5Mac, the store’s imminent replacement was announced in September. In its place, a brand new brick-and-mortar store will open in November on the Champs-Élysées, an avenue known for its theaters, cafés and luxury shops.

That upcoming multi-story historic store will employ about 200 people and feature Apple’s next-generation retail design with a massive video wall, trees, natural light, clean energy and more, with the exterior matching the appearance of the Champs-Élysées.
The lower two levels will be devoted to retail and the upper floors will be office space. Apple is reportedly paying 14 million euros per year in rent.
The firm has confirmed to French publication La Chaîne Info (Google Translate) that some employees from will be transitioned to the new store at a later date.
