Apple temporarily closes Florida’s Waterside Shops store for renovations starting next month
Apple announced Monday that its retail store located in the Waterside Shops mall in Napa, Florida will be closed temporarily for renovations beginning September 2.
“We’re making the Apple Store you love even lovelier,” reads a message on the Apple website. “We’ll be closed starting September 2. Until we reopen, please visit apple.com/retail to find the nearest store.”
The iPhone maker currently operates 12 retail stores in Florida.
Located approximately 40 miles south of Fort Myers, Florida, Waterside Shops is an outdoor shopping mall featuring branded stores such as Pottery Barn, Juicy Couture, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Burberry, Anthropologie and, of course, Apple Store.
Apple opened the Waterside Shops store on March 10, 2007.
If recent store renovations are anything to go by, this relatively small should be overhauled around Apple’s next-generation retail design revolving around sequoia wood tables, a massive video wall, the Genius Bar, free Today at Apple sessions, a gathering place near the display, called the Forum, and more.
This isn’t the only Apple Store closed for renovations.
As many as half a dozen Apple Stores in the United States are being closed for refurbishments, including retail spots in New York, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, Massachusetts and Palo Alto.
As another example, the Cupertino company is currently refurbishing the historic Tower Theatre in downtown Los Angeles as it plans to turn the location into a flashy new store.
Fun fact: the first Apple Store under a major new Jonathan Ive-approved retail design was officially unveiled nearly three years ago at the Avenue de la Toison d’Or in Brussels, coincide with the launch of Apple Watch in Belgium.
