Featuring a futuristic design with a 6.2-inch QHD+ Infinity Display, the Galaxy S8+ sure looks better than the iPhone 7 both on paper and in real life.

While the Galaxy S8+ specs easily outdo the iPhone 7 Plus, the handset cannot offer better battery life than Apple’s six months old flagship despite coming with a significantly larger battery than it. While the Galaxy S8+ comes with a 3500mAh battery, the iPhone 7 Plus comes with a 2900mAh battery. The former also comes with a substantially bigger 6.2-inch QHD+ AMOLED display, while the iPhone 7 Plus makes use of a 5.5-inch IPS LCD panel. In addition, the combination of Apple’s tight integration between the hardware and software allow the iPhone 7 Plus to easily beat the Galaxy S8+ in battery life tests conducted by the folks over at PhoneArena.

In the test that involved loading a custom web script that replicates the power consumption of a typical real world use with the display brightness set to 200 nits, the Galaxy S8+ lasted for 8 hours while the iPhone 7 Plus lasted for 9 hours and 5 mins. While the Galaxy S8+’s performance is better than the likes of the OnePlus 3T, Google Pixel XL, and even the iPhone 7, it is no match for the larger iPhone 7 Plus. Considering the handset comes with a bigger and higher resolution screen than the iPhone 7 Plus, the Galaxy S8+ score is pretty respectable. However, it is still disappointing to see an Android flagship unable to outlast the iPhone 7 Plus in terms of battery life even after six months of its release.

So, if battery life is of utmost importance, you should probably still stick to the iPhone 7 Plus. While fast and wireless charging on the S8+ should make charging the device easier, there is no denying the fact that its battery life is shorter than the iPhone 7 Plus.

[Via PhoneArena]

Source link: http://www.iphonehacks.com/2017/04/iphone-7-plus-beats-samsungs-new-galaxy-s8-battery-life-test.html

Samsung’s latest flagship, the Galaxy S8+, is perhaps better than the iPhone 7 Plus in many aspects.
