NewsON<\/a> is a very cool news app that provides users with quick, easy access to local televised news stations, all from the convenience of one app. <\/span><\/p>\n

Free to use, this app makes it simple to keep up to date on the news in your US hometown, regardless of wherever you are in the world. <\/span><\/p>\n

Features<\/b>: \"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

NewsON, by NewsON Media LLC<\/a>, is not only a great news app for your favorite iOS device, but unlike more world-focused news sources, NewsON is unique in that it is specifically designed to provide users with newscasts from local stations. <\/span><\/p>\n

Enabling the “location services” function to work on the app allows you to quickly find local news stations nearby wherever you are in the United States, and the app also allows you to save your favorite stations as well. <\/span><\/p>\n

This way, you can easily keep up to date on the news from multiple “hometowns” all at once. <\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to streaming news broadcasts of current news, NewsON also enables you to easily view past broadcasts for most stations as well (generally if aired within two days of the current date). <\/span><\/p>\n

Sending clips of news to friends and family through social media is also an option. Using NewsON is incredibly easy to do, and I found most clips to stream smoothly without any noticeable lag. <\/span><\/p>\n

“Functional” would probably be a good way to describe NewsON. <\/span><\/p>\n

The layout for this app works fine; it’s created to be simple enough to easily navigate, even if you’re unfamiliar with all of the features of the app. The general appearance of the app, however, isn’t particularly impressive. <\/span><\/p>\n

While there’s nothing “wrong” with the graphics of NewsON, they still don’t stand out as a reason in and of themselves to give the app a try. <\/span><\/p>\n

Still, the purpose of this app is for providing news clips to users, and the “just average” graphic design of the app does not in any way detract from the overall usability of NewsON. <\/span><\/p>\n

Value: <\/b>\"\"\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

As mentioned previously, NewsON is a free app. This definitely gives it an advantage over pay-for-use television station subscriptions, and for users who travel often but want to stay up to date on local home town happenings.<\/span><\/p>\n

NewsON really is a great option. <\/span><\/p>\n

An impressive selection of local news stations are featured in the app, and the ability to watch previously aired broadcasts really adds to the value of this app as well. <\/span><\/p>\n

For users looking for news outside of the United States, however, NewsON isn’t really the app for them. <\/span><\/p>\n
