And then I’d copy and paste that line in another spot if needed. Thankfully, all these time-consuming workarounds are now a thing of the past.

Mac

Open the macOS 27 Notes app and go into an existing note or create a new one.

Click where you want to place the insertion point. If it’s between a sentence, the divider line will break it and move the text under it.

Press the <kbd>Command</kbd> + <kbd>L</kbd> keys or click Edit > Insert Divider Line from the top menu bar.

As of now, you can’t change the color, thickness, or style of the divider line. It’s a simple black horizontal line that’s about 2px wide.

iOS

If you’re using a physical keyboard with your iPhone or iPad, you can press the <kbd>Command</kbd> + <kbd>L</kbd> keys to add the divider.

Or, follow these steps if you don’t have a keyboard attached:

Open the Notes app and go inside a note

Tap at the desired spot in the note to place the insertion point.

Then, tap the right arrow icon (>) in the thin menu strip.

Select Insert Divider Line to place a horizontal divider line to demarcate your note.

Once you have an area divided by a line divider, the drawing you make or files you attach will stay confined under it.

In case you no longer need the line, delete it using the <kbd>Delete</kbd> key (like any other text) or undo it using <kbd>Command</kbd> + <kbd>Z</kbd>.

Note: The Notes app also has a Lines & Grids section, but that’s for the page background.

Check out next: How to draw in Notes on Mac in macOS 27

Source link: https://www.idownloadblog.com/2026/10/07/how-to-add-divider-lines-in-notes-on-ios-and-macos-27/

In this brief tutorial, we’ll show you how to add divider lines to a note on iPhone, iPad, and Mac to clearly separate text blocks, drawings, and media for a cleaner, organized, and visually polished layout. iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 Golden Gate added a small but thoughtful addition to the Notes app….

[1,12

post-200470","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-allnews","category-appleindustrynews
["GET
