Learn how to change the perspective of a photo and fine-tune the angle of a person or subject using the new Reframe editing tool in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 Golden Gate.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Photo <\/p>\n

The Apple Intelligence Reframe feature changes the perceived angle from which the image was taken.<\/p>\n

You can adjust the camera angle change (i.e., reframe photo subject up to a limit) by moving it up, down, left, and right on the editing screen. Once you roughly define the framing, AI will fill in the necessary pixels to construct the final image. You can compare it to the original, then decide whether to keep the changes or reframe again.<\/p>\n

Reframing uses the photo’s 3D spatial information to artificially adjust the camera angle, then uses AI to fill in or recreate parts of the subject as well as the sides of the image as needed. It’s based on the same fundamentals that let you set moving 3D Lock Screen wallpaper<\/a> and extend an image when setting it as a wallpaper<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While this feature works best for images you took with your iPhone camera, you can also use it for other images, like those downloaded from the internet. However, in my testing, I found that all screenshots seem to be blocked from being reframed.<\/p>\n

Here’s how to change the camera angle of a photo using Apple Intelligence on supported iPhone, iPad, and Mac<\/a>.<\/p>\n

iPhone or iPad<\/h2>\n

1)<\/strong> Update your device to iOS 27 or iPadOS 27 (currently both are in beta<\/a>).<\/p>\n

2)<\/strong> Make sure you have set up the new Siri<\/a> and, by extension, Apple Intelligence.<\/p>\n

3)<\/strong> Open the Photos app<\/strong> and tap a picture.<\/p>\n

4)<\/strong> Tap the edit icon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

5)<\/strong> Go to the Tools<\/strong> tab and tap Reframe<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

6)<\/strong> After the image is prepared, touch it and drag it up, down, left, or right. You can also use two fingers to pan, zoom in to get more range, or rotate the image.<\/p>\n

7)<\/strong> Once you have the desired camera angle for the photo subject, tap the Reframe<\/strong> button and wait for AI to fill all the blurred and absent pixels.<\/p>\n

\"Touch <\/p>\n

8)<\/strong> Tap the screen to compare the reframed version with the original, and if you’re happy, tap the checkmark icon<\/strong>, followed by the Done<\/strong> button to save it.<\/p>\n

While you can’t view all your reframed media in one spot, you can swipe up on an individual image, and if it has been retouched with this tool, it will say \u201cModified with Apple Reframe<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mac<\/h2>\n

The process on Mac is similar to iOS.<\/p>\n

1)<\/strong> Update your Mac to macOS 27 Golden Gate or install macOS 27 on a partition<\/a> if you don’t want beta software to affect your current setup.<\/p>\n

2)<\/strong> Make sure new Siri<\/a> and Apple Intelligence are set up.<\/p>\n

3)<\/strong> Open the Photos app<\/strong>, view an image, and click Edit<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

4)<\/strong> Go to the Tools<\/strong> tab at the top and select Reframe<\/strong> on the right side.<\/p>\n

5)<\/strong> If this is the first time using these AI tools, wait for Apple to finish setting up the intelligent photo tools.<\/p>\n

6)<\/strong> Use the sliders to adjust the rotation<\/strong> (vertical and horizontal), pan<\/strong> the image subject vertically and horizontally, straighten<\/strong> it, or zoom<\/strong> in or out. Click Reset<\/strong> to start over, if needed.<\/p>\n

7)<\/strong> Finally, click the Reframe<\/strong> button and then Done<\/strong> to save the edited image.<\/p>\n

\"Adjusting <\/p>\n

Like most Photos app edits, this one is also reversible. Simply return to the editing pane and use the red Revert<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n
