{"id":199971,"date":"2026-06-12T13:37:02","date_gmt":"2026-06-12T17:37:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/midatlanticconsulting.com\/blog\/?p=199971"},"modified":"2026-06-12T13:37:02","modified_gmt":"2026-06-12T17:37:02","slug":"how-to-save-a-video-frame-as-photo-on-iphone-ipad-mac","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/midatlanticconsulting.com\/blog\/2026\/06\/how-to-save-a-video-frame-as-photo-on-iphone-ipad-mac\/","title":{"rendered":"How to save a video frame as photo on iPhone, iPad, Mac"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Find out how to export a video frame as a photo in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 Golden Gate to capture a moment in the clip without having to take a screenshot.<span id=\"more-1058936\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>While taking a screenshot on both iOS and macOS is super easy, doing it to save a scene in the video can also capture other elements like the top status bar, which you&#8217;ll have to eventually crop out.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, if your goal is to simply save a single frame from a video, the built-in frame capture feature in iOS 27 and macOS 27 offers a much cleaner and more convenient solution.<\/p>\n<p>Note that as of now, this new feature only works in the Apple Photos app. Secondly, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idownloadblog.com\/2026\/06\/09\/install-ios-27\/\">iOS 27, iPadOS 27<\/a>, and macOS 27 Golden Gate are currently in the developer beta stage, with full release expected around September.<\/p>\n<h2>iPhone or iPad<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the iOS 27 <strong>Photos app<\/strong> and play the video there.<\/li>\n<li>Pause the video frame at the right time. It also works if you don&#8217;t pause it, but pausing helps capture exactly what you want.<\/li>\n<li>Tap the <strong>three-dot menu<\/strong> at the top, then select <strong>Save Video Frame as Photo<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Now, go to the main library section, and the most recent image is the saved video frame.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1058939\" src=\"https:\/\/media.idownloadblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Saving-video-frame-as-photo-on-iPhone.jpg\" alt=\"Saving video frame as photo on iPhone\" width=\"1676\" height=\"1665\" \/> <\/p>\n<h2>Mac<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the Apple <strong>Photos app<\/strong> and play a video there.<\/li>\n<li>Pause the video at the right time for precise capture.<\/li>\n<li><kbd>Control<\/kbd>-click or right-click on the video and select <strong>Save Video Frame as Photo<\/strong>. You can also click <strong>Image<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Save Video Frame as Photo<\/strong> from the top menu bar.<\/li>\n<li>You&#8217;ll find this saved video frame in the <em>Library<\/em> section of the Photos app.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1058940\" src=\"https:\/\/media.idownloadblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Save-Video-Frame-as-Photo-on-Mac.jpg\" alt=\"Save Video Frame as Photo on Mac\" width=\"2562\" height=\"1718\" \/> <\/p>\n<p>Even though Apple added this feature recently, it is in no way new or revolutionary. Apps like VLC have had this option for a long time.
