If you don&#8217;t want to use these features on your device or your child&#8217;s, you can easily turn them off, as explained below.<\/p>\n<p>But before you begin, keep these important points in mind:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You&#8217;ll manage all these options by going to the iOS <strong>Settings app<\/strong> and tapping <strong>Screen Time<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>To manage Screen Time on your child&#8217;s device, follow these steps directly on their iPhone or iPad. Or, go to <strong>Settings<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Screen Time<\/strong> on your iPhone or iPad and <strong>select your kid&#8217;s name<\/strong> under the <em>Family<\/em> heading. Note that the latter will work only if you have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idownloadblog.com\/2025\/12\/26\/apple-family-setup\/\">added your child to your Apple digital family<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>You may have to enter the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idownloadblog.com\/2025\/11\/28\/set-screen-time-passcode\/\">Screen Time passcode<\/a> to turn off some features. To turn it off and get full app access:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Go to iPhone or iPad <strong>Settings<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Screen Time<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Downtime<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>If it&#8217;s currently on, tap <strong>Turn Off Downtime<\/strong> or<strong> Ignore Downtime Until Schedule<\/strong>. If a schedule is set, turn off the <strong>Scheduled<\/strong> switch.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><span id=\"Turn-off-App-Limits\">Turn off App Limits<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>You can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idownloadblog.com\/2018\/06\/14\/limit-kids-screen-time\/\">use App Limits<\/a> to set how many minutes or hours a particular app can be used every day. To turn it off:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Head to iPhone or iPad <strong>Settings<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Screen Time<\/strong> &gt; <strong>App Limits<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Swipe left on an added limit and tap <strong>Delete<\/strong>. Or, just turn off the <strong>App Limits<\/strong> switch to disable all added limits.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><span id=\"Allow-all-apps\">Allow all apps<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The <strong>Always Allowed<\/strong> section in Screen Time lets you choose which applications are permitted for use during Downtime. Since this option is a sub-feature of Downtime, just turning off Downtime (already mentioned above) makes it powerless.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Disable-the-eye-safety-feature\">Disable the eye safety feature<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Your iPhone or iPad with Face ID will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idownloadblog.com\/2023\/06\/21\/how-to-turn-off-screen-distance-iphone-ipad\/\">block the contents on the screen and prompt you to move the device to arm&#8217;s length<\/a> before you can use it again. It does so to prevent you from using the screen too close to your face, thus helping reduce eye strain. If you find it too nagging, turn it off in <strong>Settings<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Screen Time<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Screen Distance<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Turn-off-all-communication-limits\">Turn off all communication limits<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>You can choose <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idownloadblog.com\/2019\/12\/11\/screen-time-communication-limits-ios\/\">who you or your child is allowed to call, FaceTime, and text<\/a> during Screen Time <em>and<\/em> Downtime. Since you want no restrictions, go to iOS <strong>Settings<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Screen Time<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Communication Limits<\/strong> and set both options to <strong>Everyone<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Disable-communication-safety\">Disable communication safety<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>When enabled, this thoughtful feature <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idownloadblog.com\/2023\/07\/19\/how-to-use-communication-safety-and-sensitive-content-warning-iphone-mac\/\">blurs any sensitive\/nude media<\/a> you or your child receives via Messages, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idownloadblog.com\/2023\/07\/12\/how-to-send-facetime-video-message-iphone\/\">FaceTime voicemail<\/a>, or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idownloadblog.com\/2023\/07\/04\/how-to-use-contact-poster-iphone\/\">Contact Posters<\/a>. Go to <strong>Settings<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Screen Time<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Communication Safety<\/strong> and turn it off if you want unrestricted access to all kinds of media.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Turn-off-apps-media-privacy-and-other-restrictions\">Turn off apps, media, privacy, and other restrictions<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idownloadblog.com\/2018\/12\/03\/block-websites-on-iphone-ipad\/\">Content &amp; Privacy Restrictions option<\/a> inside <strong>Settings<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Screen Time<\/strong> is powerful with many features. You can disable each of them individually, or just toggle off the main <strong>Content &amp; Privacy Restrictions<\/strong> master switch to nullify all restrictions in one swoop.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Turn-off-Screen-Time-passcode\">Turn off Screen Time passcode<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>This is an important one.<\/p>\n<p>When you have a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idownloadblog.com\/2025\/11\/28\/set-screen-time-passcode\/\">Screen Time passcode set up<\/a>, some things, like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idownloadblog.com\/2024\/12\/02\/fix-sign-out-button-grayed-out-iphone-settings\/\">Sign Out button in your Apple Account settings may be grayed out<\/a>. If you face such issues:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Head to <strong>Settings<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Screen Time<\/strong>, and tap <strong>Change Screen Time Password<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Tap <strong>Turn Off Screen Time Passcode<\/strong> and enter the current Screen Time (not device) passcode to authenticate.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><span id=\"Stop-Screen-Time-from-affecting-your-other-devices\">Stop Screen Time from affecting your other devices<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you don&#8217;t want the Screen Time settings of your iPhone to also apply to your iPad, Mac, or another iPhone, turn off the &#8216;<strong>Share Across Devices<\/strong>&#8216; switch.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Turn-off-several-core-Screen-Time-features-in-one-go\">Turn off several core Screen Time features in one go<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Finally, if you don&#8217;t want Screen Time to track your usage or you don&#8217;t want to set app limits and use Downtime, then head to iOS <strong>Settings<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Screen Time<\/strong> and tap <strong>Turn Off App &amp; Website Activity<\/strong> from the bottom.<\/p>\n<p>After this, the top activity section, Downtime, App Limits, and Always Allowed options will disappear from your Screen Time pane. You can get these back by tapping <em>App &amp; Website Activity<\/em> &gt; <em>Turn On App &amp; Website Activity<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>This is how you can deactivate Screen Time on your iPhone or iPad. The fundamentals are the same if you want to do this on your Mac.
