In this quick beginner’s guide, we’ll show you how to save a PDF from a website in Safari, Google Chrome, and Firefox on your iPhone or iPad.<\/span><\/p>\n

While this is a simple task, many new iPhone and iPad users struggle with it, which is why this post. Note that we are not talking about saving a Safari webpage as a PDF; we have a different tutorial for that<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Before you go further, remember that all the browsers mentioned here (Safari, Chrome, and Firefox) will save the PDF file in the Apple Files app.<\/p>\n

Safari<\/span><\/h2>\n

Safari is the default web browser<\/a> on all Apple devices. If you want to save a PDF from a webpage open in Safari to your iPhone or iPad, here are all the steps.<\/p>\n

1)<\/strong> Open Safari and visit a website with a PDF. If the PDF opens directly in the browser (you’ll see its first page, and the rest), move to the next step. And if the webpage shows a Download<\/em> or Save<\/em> button, then tap that first.<\/p>\n

2)<\/strong> Tap the three dots icon<\/strong> and select Share<\/strong>. You can also touch and hold the URL bar and select Share.<\/p>\n

3)<\/strong> Make sure you see the ‘PDF Document<\/strong>‘ label under the file name, as shown in the screenshot below. Then, tap the Save to Files<\/strong> button. The iOS Files app interface will open. Use the back button (<) in the top-left corner to navigate to a location and folder. You can select from iCloud Drive (similar to Google Drive), On My iPhone (local storage), or third-party services added to the Files app<\/a>.<\/p>\n

4)<\/strong> Once you’re in a folder where you want to save the file, look at the ‘Save as<\/em>‘ bar at the bottom. This is where you can change the PDF file name if needed and assign a Tag<\/a>. Finally, tap the Save<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n

5)<\/strong> To access this saved PDF, open the iOS Files app<\/strong> and go to the Recents<\/strong> tab. You can also tap Browse<\/strong>, then navigate to the iCloud Drive<\/strong> or On My iPhone<\/strong> folder where you saved the PDF in steps 3 and 4 above.<\/p>\n

Once you get to the PDF, just tap to open it in the iOS 26 Preview app<\/a>. You can also touch and hold the PDF thumbnail and select Quick Look to open it right in the Files app. Or, use the Get Info option to set a default app for viewing PDFs on this iPhone or iPad<\/a>.<\/p>\n
