As a result, I don&#8217;t have to call or text her to ask if she has reached her office; I can just see it in Find My.<\/p>\n<p>I wanted to set up a similar thing with my dad, but he has an Android phone. Then, one day out of the blue, I came across the location sharing feature in Google Maps, which works across platforms and allows me to achieve the same function as Apple&#8217;s Find My. It&#8217;s easy to set up and works reliably. Select <strong>Google Maps<\/strong> from the list of applications and set it to access your location at all times by tapping &#8216;<strong>Always<\/strong>.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><strong>2)<\/strong> Launch the <a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/google-maps\/id585027354\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google Maps app<\/a> on iPhone and sign in with your Google\/Gmail account if you haven&#8217;t already. Then, tap the <strong>profile picture<\/strong> icon at the top, followed by <strong>Location Sharing<\/strong> and the <strong>Share Location<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3)<\/strong> Tap the \u201cFor 1 hour\u201d drop-down button and select \u201c<strong>Until you turn this off<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>4)<\/strong> Tap the <strong>More<\/strong> button, which is on the right of your contact suggestions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5)<\/strong> Now type the Gmail address of your family member or friend with an Android phone, <strong>tap it<\/strong>, and hit the <strong>Share<\/strong> button. Your iPhone is now sharing its location with that Android phone user at all times.<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"How-will-the-Android-user-see-iPhones-location\">How will the Android user see iPhone&#8217;s location<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>After you follow the above steps, the person with Android phone can see your (iPhone) location whenever they like, by following these steps:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1)<\/strong> Open <strong>Maps<\/strong> or Google&#8217;s dedicated <strong>Find Hub app<\/strong> on Android phone.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2)<\/strong> In Google Maps, tap the <strong>profile picture icon<\/strong>, select <strong>Location Sharing<\/strong>, and tap the person&#8217;s name. It will display the iPhone&#8217;s location, how far away it is, the battery status, and when this location was last updated. Tap the three dots icon and hit <strong>Refresh<\/strong> to fetch the updated location.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3)<\/strong> In the Find Hub app, go to the <strong>People<\/strong> tab, and select the person to see their current location.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Share-Android-phones-location-permanently-with-an-iPhone\">Share Android phone&#8217;s location permanently with an iPhone<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>You can share an Android phone&#8217;s location with an iPhone via Google Maps, following the same steps we&#8217;ve mentioned above. Additionally, you can use the Find Hub app to share the location, which is a cleaner, dedicated app for this job, powered by the same Google Maps under the hood.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1)<\/strong> Open the <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.google.android.apps.adm&amp;hl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Find Hub app<\/a> on your Android phone, make sure you&#8217;re signed in with your Google account, and go to the <strong>People<\/strong> tab.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> If the iPhone user is already sharing their location with you, just tap their name, followed by the <strong>Share Your Location<\/strong> button, and select <strong>Until you turn this off<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2)<\/strong> If the iPhone user isn&#8217;t sharing their location with you, tap the <strong>plus button (+)<\/strong>, and set &#8216;For one hour&#8217; to &#8216;<strong>Until you turn this off<\/strong>.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><strong>3)<\/strong> After that, tap the <strong>Search<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4)<\/strong> Type the Gmail address of the iPhone user, select the person from under the Suggestions, and tap <strong>OK<\/strong>. Finally, tap <strong>Share<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"How-will-the-iPhone-user-see-Android-phones-location\">How will the iPhone user see Android phone&#8217;s location<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The iPhone user will go to <strong>Google Maps<\/strong> on their device, tap the <strong>profile picture<\/strong>, select <strong>Location Sharing<\/strong>, and then tap the Android phone user&#8217;s name to see their location, battery percentage, and other details. If the location is outdated, tap the <strong>three-dot menu icon<\/strong> and select <strong>Refresh<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Get-notifications-when-the-person-leaves-or-arrives-at-a-location\">Get notifications when the person leaves or arrives at a location<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.idownloadblog.com\/2019\/10\/28\/notifications-find-my-app\/\">Just like Apple&#8217;s Find My<\/a>, Google Maps also lets you get an alert when a family member or friend you&#8217;re sharing your location with arrives at a place or leaves one.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1)<\/strong> Go to Google Maps, tap the <strong>profile picture<\/strong>, pick <strong>Location Sharing<\/strong>, and then select the person.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2<\/strong>) Tap the <strong>Add<\/strong> button with a tiny bell icon next to <strong>Notifications<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3)<\/strong> Tap <strong>Add Location<\/strong>, search for the location, and select it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4)<\/strong> Then, turn on the switches for &#8216;<strong>Every time they arrive<\/strong> or <strong>leave<\/strong>&#8216; in the &#8216;Get notified&#8217; section, and finally hit <strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Add-location-sharing-to-the-Home-Screen\">Add location sharing to the Home Screen<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The iOS version of the Google Maps app doesn&#8217;t yet support adding people widgets to the Home Screen or Lock Screen. However, the Android version allows you to add a small app-like icon to the Home Screen, which enables you to view that person&#8217;s location with a tap.<\/p>\n<p>Just touch and hold your Android phone&#8217;s Home Screen, tap <strong>Widgets<\/strong>, select <strong>Maps<\/strong>, and add the <strong>Friend&#8217;s Location<\/strong> widget. Then, choose a person who is sharing their location with you.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Some-tips-to-keep-in-mind-for-accurate-location\">Some tips to keep in mind for accurate location<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Sharing location via Google Maps works best when:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wi-Fi or mobile data is working properly.<\/li>\n<li>The Maps app can access phone location at all times.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.idownloadblog.com\/2017\/08\/09\/how-to-stop-background-app-refresh-cellular\/\">Background App Refresh<\/a> on iPhone is active for Google Maps.<\/li>\n<li>Any extreme battery-saving options are disabled on Android phone.<\/li>\n<li>And most importantly, the location feature is enabled on the phone. My mom accidentally turned off the location feature on her Android phone from the Quick Settings menu, and I couldn&#8217;t see her new location in Google Maps on my iPhone.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Will you be turning it on for your family members and close friends?
