Find My must be turned on<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.idownloadblog.com\/2019\/09\/26\/find-my-app-ios-tutorial\/\">The Find My feature<\/a> must be turned on for Apple Watch to be findable. Turning Find My on automatically enables <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idownloadblog.com\/2023\/05\/16\/secure-iphone-ipad-apple-watch-find-my-activation-lock\/\">Activation Lock<\/a>, which prevents anybody else from setting up your Apple device for their own use without knowing your Apple account password. If Find My is enabled on your iPhone, it\u2019s automatically activated on the watch. Start by going to the place in your house where you think you may have misplaced your Apple Watch, then follow these steps to ping it.<\/p>\n<h3>Ping your Apple Watch from the Control Center<\/h3>\n<p>Add the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.idownloadblog.com\/2023\/06\/07\/ping-apple-watch-from-iphone-new-ios-17-feature\/\">Ping My Watch<\/a>\u201d button to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idownloadblog.com\/2024\/06\/17\/how-to-customize-iphone-control-center\/\">the Control Center<\/a> on your iPhone. Who you tap this button, your iPhone will instruct your Apple Watch via Bluetooth to play a tone so you can locate it. Pan and zoom the map to see if the watch is nearby or you\u2019ve left it behind. The area can be a couple of miles in diameter, which isn\u2019t ideal but it&#8217;s at least something. If you think the watch is online but you\u2019re still being its approximate location, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idownloadblog.com\/2021\/11\/01\/how-to-force-quit-apps-iphone-ipad\/\">close and reopene the Find My app<\/a> a few times or retry after a while.<\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1047664\" src=\"https:\/\/media.idownloadblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Approximate-Location-shown-for-Apple-Watch-in-Find-My-on-iPhone.jpg\" alt=\"Approximate Location shown for Apple Watch in Find My on iPhone\" width=\"1676\" height=\"1665\" \/> <\/p>\n<h2>Activate Lost Mode on your Apple Watch<\/h2>\n<p>Turning on Lost Mode in the find My app will lock the watch remotely, provided it\u2019s online. If you haven\u2019t set up a passcode on your Apple Watch, you\u2019ll be prompted to do so after turning Lost Mode on. This feature also displays your custom message on the Apple Watch screen so that the finder can contact you. It also removes all Apple Pay cards from the watch and stops anyone from erasing the device or pairing it with their iPhone unless they know the passcode.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1)<\/strong> Go to <strong>Find My<\/strong> on your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or <a href=\"http:\/\/icloud.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">iCloud.com<\/a> and select your Apple Watch in the <strong>Devices<\/strong> section.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2)<\/strong> Tap <strong>Lost Mode<\/strong> in the &#8216;Lost Apple Watch&#8217; tile.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3)<\/strong> Read what happens when the device is in Lost Mode, then hit <strong>Continue<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1047662\" src=\"https:\/\/media.idownloadblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Lost-Mode-to-enable-additional-protection-for-Apple-Watch.jpg\" alt=\"Lost Mode to enable additional protection for Apple Watch\" width=\"1676\" height=\"1665\" \/> <\/p>\n<p><strong>4)<\/strong> Enter <strong>your phone number<\/strong> so that whoever finds your watch can call or text you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5)<\/strong> Write a custom 70-character <strong>message<\/strong> to display on the watch screen. If you don&#8217;t already have a passcode set up, you\u2019ll need to create it now. Be sure to write it down so you don\u2019t forget it or you won\u2019t be able to unlock the device once you\u2019ve found it.<\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1047663\" src=\"https:\/\/media.idownloadblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Entering-phone-number-and-message-to-display-on-lost-Apple-Watch-screen.jpg\" alt=\"Entering phone number and message to display on lost Apple Watch screen\" width=\"1676\" height=\"1665\" \/> <\/p>\n<p><strong>6)<\/strong> Turn the <strong>Notify When Found<\/strong> switch on to be alerted the instant the watch comes back online. Review the disclaimer, then tap <strong>Activate<\/strong>. If the watch is online, Lost Mode will be immediately activated. Otherwise, it will be turned on when the device comes back online, if ever\u2026<\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1047668\" src=\"https:\/\/media.idownloadblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Activating-Lost-Mode-for-Apple-Watch-using-Find-My-on-iPhone.jpg\" alt=\"Activating Lost Mode for Apple Watch using Find My on iPhone\" width=\"1676\" height=\"1665\" \/> <\/p>\n<p>Find My continues to update your Apple Watch&#8217;s location in Lost Mode. <span>Once you&#8217;ve found the watch, tap <strong>Unlock<\/strong> on its screen and enter your 4-digit passcode to turn <\/span>Lost Mode off. You can also turn it off in the Find My app.<\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1047673\" src=\"https:\/\/media.idownloadblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Lost-Mode-message-on-Apple-Watch-screen-Large.jpg\" alt=\"Lost Mode message on Apple Watch screen\" width=\"450\" height=\"600\" \/> <\/p>\n<h2>If Find My is disabled or your Apple Watch is offline<\/h2>\n<p>If Find My is turned off, you won\u2019t be able to locate your Apple Watch in the Find My app. And if Find My is turned on but the watch is offline or the battery is depleted, you won\u2019t be able to locate it either. In that cases, your only option is to file a police complaint. When you report a missing Apple Watch, the police will ask for its unique <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idownloadblog.com\/2023\/02\/07\/how-to-find-iphone-serial-number\/\">Serial Number<\/a>. If your Apple Watch has cellular connectivity, you can also provide the police with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idownloadblog.com\/2023\/01\/31\/how-to-find-iphone-imei-number\/\">IMEI number<\/a>, found in the  Settings app on your iPhone.<\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1047660\" src=\"https:\/\/media.idownloadblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Seeing-Apple-Watch-Serial-Number-and-IMEI-in-iPhone-Apple-Account-settings.jpg\" alt=\"Seeing Apple Watch Serial Number and IMEI in iPhone Apple Account settings\" width=\"2514\" height=\"1665\" \/> <\/p>\n<p>You can remotely erase a lost Apple Watch in Find My (provider it\u2019s online), but I only recommend doing this if you\u2019ve given up all hope of finding it; after a remote wipe, you&#8217;ll no longer be able to track your Apple Watch in Find My.<\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1047671\" src=\"https:\/\/media.idownloadblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Remotely-erasing-Apple-Watch-using-Find-My-on-iPhone.jpg\" alt=\"Remotely erasing Apple Watch using Find My on iPhone\" width=\"1676\" height=\"1665\" \/> <\/p>\n<p>Be advised that removing your Apple Watch from the list of Apple devices associated with your Apple account in <strong>Settings<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Apple Account<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Apple Watch<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Remove from Account<\/strong> or by choosing the <strong>Remove<\/strong> option in the Find My app will disable Find My and Activation Lock, which will enable the finder or thief to pair your Apple Watch with their iPhone and set it up from scratch.<\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1047672\" src=\"https:\/\/media.idownloadblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Removing-Apple-Watch-from-my-Apple-Account.jpg\" alt=\"Removing Apple Watch from my Apple Account\" width=\"1676\" height=\"1665\" \/> <\/p>\n<h2>Summing up<\/h2>\n<p>Find My realizes its full potential with devices that are always connected to the internet via mobile data, such as iPhones and cellular iPads. Other devices like the AirPods and MacBook laptops are more challenging to locate in Find My because they lack their own Internet connection and rely on nearby devices within the Bluetooth range.<\/p>\n<p>In my personal experience, locating the Apple Watch in Find My can be erratic. For example, sometimes Find My would display an approximate, outdated, or no location even though my Apple Watch is nearby my iPhone and has internet connectivity. Summing up, you may able to locate a missing Apple Watch if you\u2019ve recently left it behind at a familiar location like your home or office. But tracking its location becomes challenging if you\u2019ve left your watch in a taxi, airport, or other public areas. That\u2019s why it\u2019s a good idea to opt for a cellular Apple Watch that can relay its location to the Find My network on its own.<\/p>\n<h2>Finding other Apple devices<\/h2>\n<p>The Find My app can be a life-saver if you lose one or more Apple devices.
