The first iPhone model was released in the United States on June 29, 2007.<span id=\"more-1047002\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also recently marked a significant milestone: We shipped the 3 billionth iPhone since its launch in 2007,\u201d Apple\u2019s CEO Tim Cook said during yesterday\u2019s conference call discussing the company\u2019s financial results for the June quarter, according to a transcript of the call shared by Six Colors.<\/p>\n<p>The company\u2019s head of marketing, Greg Joswiak, reiterated the milestone on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/gregjoz\/status\/1951042159639142576\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">X (Twitter)<\/a>. \u201cThank you to everyone who&#8217;s made iPhone such an important part of their lives,\u201d he said. \u201cI&#8217;m incredibly excited for what&#8217;s ahead!\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Apple has shipped 3 billion iPhones since 2007<\/h2>\n<p>Apple announced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idownloadblog.com\/2016\/07\/27\/apple-passes-1-billion-iphones\/\">shipping its first billionth iPhone in 2016<\/a>, so the company has managed to ship two billion iPhones since then. Note the distinction between the number of iPhones sold and actively used. For example, even though one billion iPhones were sold between 2007 and 2016, there were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idownloadblog.com\/2019\/01\/30\/900-million-iphones-milestone\/\">900 million iPhones actively used three years later, in 2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">3 billion iPhones sold!  <\/p>\n<p>Thank you to everyone who&#8217;s made iPhone such an important part of their lives. These are better results compared with the same 3-month period in 2024, when the company reported $85.8 billion in revenue and net quarterly profit of $21.4 billion, or $1.40 per diluted share.<\/p>\n<p>The Services business raked in $27.4 billion during the quarter, an all-time record for Services revenue, versus the $24.2 billion in Services revenue in the year-ago quarter.<\/p>\n<h2>iOS 26, iPadOS 26 and macOS Tahoe 26 are Apple\u2019s most popular developer betas so far<\/h2>\n<p>Cook also said that iOS 26, iPadOS 26 and macOS Tahoe 26 file as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idownloadblog.com\/2025\/08\/01\/ios-26-ipados-macos-tahoe-developer-beta-most-popular\/\">Apple\u2019s most popular developer betas so far<\/a>. \u201cIt&#8217;s wonderful to see great momentum building for our platforms,\u201d he said. \u201ciOS 26, macOS 26 and iPadOS 26 are by far the most popular developer betas we&#8217;ve had.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Apple also provides versions for public beta testing, but those betas are not available until July.
