The Apple TV+ head of programming Matt Cherniss has reiterated that stance in a chat with <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/tv\/news\/apple-tv-severance-might-return-the-studio-cameos-1236461550\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Variety<\/em><\/a>, confirming the show\u2019s been renewed for a third season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo one wants it to be another three-year gap,\u201d he said. \u201cI don\u2019t believe that we have a production start date yet, but we\u2019re moving in that direction.\u201d Both the first and second seasons of \u201cSeverance\u201d are streaming now on Apple TV+.<\/p>\n<h2>\u201cSeverance\u201d season 3 is in production<\/h2>\n<p>The first season of \u201cSeverance\u201d premiered on Apple TV+ in February 2022, but the second season (with an extra episode) took three years to arrive and wouldn\u2019t hit Apple\u2019sstreaming service until January 2025 due to the SAG-AFTRA strikes in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Cherniss told <em>Variety<\/em> that writer Dan Erickson and executive producers, including director Ben Stiller, are currently developing season 3.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think everyone\u2019s just going to take a deep breath and enjoy where we\u2019re at,\u201d he said. \u201cI know they\u2019re going as quickly as they can.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you have the success that a show like \u2018Severance\u2019 has, you want to make sure you deliver on every level when the show comes back, and that takes some time,\u201d he said. \u201cBut they\u2019re on it, and I think I\u2019m feeling really good about where we\u2019re at.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In case you missed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idownloadblog.com\/2025\/01\/15\/lumon-industries-innies-from-the-apple-tv-show-severance-locked-in-a-glass-box-in-nycs-grand-central-terminal\/\">Apple\u2019s glass cube pop-up in Grand Central Station<\/a> and other clever marketing promotions, \u201cSeverance\u201d proved a massively popular show for Apple TV+.
