The fine print states performance claims are based on “Microsoft-commissioned testing conducted by Principled Technologies,” which used Cinebench to measure multi-core benchmark.

The Windows maker does not mention single-core benchmarks where Apple silicon has a significant edge. In comparison, the Neural Engine (which servers the same purpose) in Apple’s M4 chips is rated at 38 trillion operations per second, or double the performance of the M3’s Neural Engine that the ad cites.

Another page with further details compares top-rated Copilot+ PCs and Apple’s MacBook Air with the M2 chip, which was released in June 2022.
