Vision Pro launches in the UK, Australia, Canada, France and Germany with enhanced “Go Deeper” in-store demos

The Vision Pro headset has arrived in Apple’s retail stores across the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, France and Germany.

The mixed-reality headset that Apple prefers be referred to as a “spatial computer” made its debut in the United States back in February 2024. Five months later, the Vision Pro expanded to China, Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong.
You can request an appointment for a free in-store demo via Apple’s website. Demos are also available without an appointment on a first-come, first-served basis.
Vision Pro hits the UK, Australia, Canada, France & Germany
It’s unclear if Vision Pro sales meet internal projections because Apple hasn’t divulged sales numbers or issued public sales projections for the device.
Bloomberg reports that research firm IDC estimates that Apple has sold fewer than 300,000 Vision Pro units thus far. IDC projected US sales of the Vision Pro would drop further in the current quarter as consumer interest starts to fade.
The headset costs $3500 in the United States. In other countries, especially in Europe, the price is even higher. In the European Union member states like France and Germany, the device is priced at 4000 euros for the base model with 256GB of onboard storage, which works out to about $4350.
In the United Kingdom, the Vision Pro costs £3500 (around $4518), in Canada CAN$5000 (around $3675), in Australia A$6000 (around $4062), in Singapore S$5300 (around $3900), in China RMB 30000 (around $4120), in Japan ¥599800 (around $3700) and in Hong Kong HK$28000 (around $3580).
Apple’s spatial computer should get a sales boost when its more affordable successor, said to cost half as much as the current one, drops around the end of 2025 or in 2026, even if it might require an iPhone or Mac for processing power.
The Sun interviews Tim Cook
Apple’s CEO Tim Cook sat down for an interview with The Sun, a British tabloid newspaper, saying he uses the headset daily to watch Apple TV+ content.
Here’s your quote:
The ability for me to get in the position that I want to get in – including lying flat and putting the screen on the ceiling – is an incredible kind of experience. And of course, it’s a 100ft screen. I mean, it’s amazing the level of entertainment that it delivers.
Cook also said that words cannot fully describe the Vision Pro experience. Instead, he urged would-be shoppers to get a free in-store demo to try it out for themselves.
It’s hard to explain it in words. It’s hard to show it in a 2D fashion, what a 3D experience will be. And so we’re offering everyone a demo. It’s a very cool experience that you can reserve and not stand in a queue. If you don’t want to do that, you can stand in the queue and await your turn.
Cook said the Vision Pro “was multiple years in the making.” Apple filed more than 5,000 patents related to the headset.
Will Apple Intelligence come to the Vision Pro?
Apple Intelligence won’t be available on the Vision Pro this fall though the headset will eventually get it. “I’m told that Apple is actively working on bringing the features to the device, but it won’t happen this year,” as per Mark Gurman of Bloomberg.
The Apple Intelligence system requirements include Apple silicon with 16 gigabytes of memory, which the Vision Pro has. Technically, the headset can handle Apple Intelligence, so clearly this is a matter of development priorities. Gurman explained that Apple has now defaulted to offering the Dual Loop band during in-store demos.
Another new initiative is a “Go Deeper” option for in-store demos that entails watching videos, testing office features and, most importantly, allowing customers to explore their own photos, panoramas and videos on the headset.
