Meta is working on letting you share voice notes on WhatsApp Status
The Meta-owned company is working on the ability to share short voice notes on the WhatsApp Status feature, not just text, photos and videos.

WhatsApp working on status updates with voice notes
WhatsApp Status is like Instagram Stories. Available on the Status tab, it lets you share text, photos, videos and GIFs that automatically disappear after 24 hours.
And soon, you’ll be able to attach voice notes to your WhatsApp status updates. According to WABetaInfo, the latest beta version of WhatsApp for iOS has introduced the ability to add voice notes to your status updates.
The screenshot that the site shared shows that using this feature will be straightforward. When creating your WhatsApp status, you’ll hit the blue microphone icon on the rightmost side of the text entry field. Doing so will enable you to record a short voice message that will be included in your status update.
This feature has been in testing on Android for some time now, and now it’s also available on the WhatsApp Beta for iOS. WABetaInfo says you’ll be permitted to post a voice note up to 30 seconds to a status update.
Is WhatsApp Status encrypted?
Everything shared on the WhatsApp Status is end-to-end encrypted, including any text or media. Before you can send and receive status updates to and from your contacts, you and your contacts must have each other’s phone numbers saved in your iPhone’s Contacts app. Read: How to hide contacts on your iPhone
Aside from voice notes in status updates, WhatsApp has been developing other features that have yet to launch publicly, including editing messages on WhatsApp Desktop and quickly muting group chats along with an official chat from the WhatsApp team to inform users about new features, get them tips and more.
