There are a lot of films showcased at a variety of different film festivals. And, oftentimes, one or two stand out and garner plenty of attention before a wide release. One such film out of the most recent Sundance Film Festival is Cha Cha Real Smooth, a festival darling that’s finally going to see the light of day for a broader audience next month.
The story revolves around a character named Andrew, played by Cooper Raiff (I Would Have Kissed You), a 22-year-old who is “fresh out of college” and stuck living with his parents. Without a direct course in life, Andrew’s wandering a bit, but he manages to land a job as a motivational dancer at bar and bat mitzvahs of his younger brother’s classmates.
And that’s when he meets “a local mom” named Domino, played by Dakota Johnson (The Lost Daughter) and her daughter, Lola, played by Vanessa Burghardt.
When Andrew befriends a local mom, Domino, and her daughter, Lola, he finally discovers a future he wants – even if it might not be his own.
Cha Cha Real Smooth is written and directed by Raiff, who also leads the cast. The film also stars Bard Garrett (Everyone Loves Raymond), Evan Assante (Wild Indian), Leslie Mann (Knocked Up), and others. The film will have a limited theatrical run on June 17, the same day the film is set to premiere on Apple TV+.
