In what felt like a thing that was only a matter of time, it’s been confirmed today that Oprah Winfrey is getting the biographical documentary treatment — and it’ll be available on Apple TV+.

Today, Deadline is reporting that Winfrey’s biographical documentary will launch at some point in the near future on Apple’s streaming service. Apple TV+ has ordered a two-part doc focused on the mega-successful multi-hyphenate, with Academy Award-winner Kevin MacDonald teaming up with Emmy Award-nominated producer Lisa Erspamer (along with Erspamer’s production company Happy Street Entertainment).

The pair aren’t strangers to working together, especially on these high-profile projects. Erspamer and MacDonald last worked together on Whitney, the biographical documentary about Whitney Houston.

Here are the crucial details, per the report:

The new doc will chronicle 25 years of American history through the lens of one show and one woman who rose from humble roots to become a globally famous talk show host, producer, actress and philanthropist. MacDonald is directing the two-parter, Emmy nominee Rolake Bamgbose is serving as showrunner.

No word on a release date, but this one seems to be just getting off the ground, so it may be some time before we have any additional details.

Winfrey has worked quite a bit with Apple recently. The billionaire essentially helped launch Apple TV+ right out of the gate, with properties like Oprah’s Book Club and, eventually, Oprah Talks COVID-19 and The Oprah Conversation.
