Thanks to Apple setting up deals with a range of other companies, AirPlay 2 is in quite a few third-party company products. That continues into 2021 with new smart TVs, and, thanks to the Life’s Good crew, a brand new projector.

Today, LG confirmed the launch date for its newest 4K laser projector, model number HU810P. According to AVSForum (via The Verge) the projector was actually announced in August of last year. However, today’s announcement has finally set a launch date for the new device: Monday, January 18, 2021. The price? $2,999.

For that price you get an impressive laser projector, though. It can project an image up to 300 inches corner to corner. As for brightness, the 4K laser projector reaches 2,700 ANSI lumens. It supports High Dynamic Range in both HDR10 and HLG HDR. It will automatically adjust the picture based on the room the projector is set in, and and the content displayed on it. It can also adjust the frame rate up to 24Hz for watching films.

The HU810P supports webOS 5.0, which means it runs a range of native apps for streaming content, including Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, and others. It also supports Miracast for streaming from other devices. As for streaming, the new 4K laser projector also supports AirPlay 2, so you can stream content from an iPhone, iPad, Mac, or iPod touch without having an Apple TV working as the middleman.

There are a trio of HDMI ports, one of which is HDMI 2.1. And for high-quality audio, the projector also supports eARC. Google’s Assistant and Amazon’s Alexa are built into the projector.

It’s a pricey projector, to be sure, but it’s not the most expensive option out there. And with AirPlay 2 support baked in, it might be a worthwhile purchase for someone in the market for a 4K laser projector.
