Later this month, Apple’s boss Tim Cook is going to field COVID-19 questions from employees via a virtual meeting, according to a new Bloomberg report Thursday.

Mark Gurman, writing for Bloomberg:

The company sent a note to employees advising them of the plan on Wednesday in the US, which Bloomberg News has reviewed. It asked that questions be submitted by end of day on Saturday and also encouraged workers to share their experiences of working through the disruption to daily life that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought about.

The specific date of the meeting has not yet been disclosed.

Employee are likely to pose other questions regarding how Apple’s culture of secrecy is being tested by employees who are now working remotely due to the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the report, Apple wants to help parents cope with the situation by “working on options to make sure parents have the support and the flexibility to adjust their schedules as needed” according to a note to employees from retail head Deirdre O’Brien. Apple is aware “many parents are balancing homeschooling with working” and is encouraging employees to be open with management about their challenges, O’Brien wrote.

A report by The Wall Street Journal highlighted some of the complaints from work-at-home Apple employees in terms of slow download speeds and confusion over still-evolving new internal rules about what work they are allowed to perform from home.

That’s especially concerning to designers and engineers who are working on upcoming new products as they’re unable to access crucial internal systems from home due to Apple’s strict security policies. But in spite of those hurdles, Apple’s work on new products to be released later this year reportedly continues unabated.

Before the Apple Park headquarters became operational, company-wide meetings at Apple used to be held at 4 Infinite Loop on Apple’s old campus. The old 300-seat venue has now been replaced by the Steve Jobs Theater, pictured top of post, which is a 1,000-seat auditorium in the new Apple Park campus.

Coincidentally or not, Apple ahead of this meeting released bug-fix updates to its iOS/iPadOS, macOS and watchOS software to fix a bug that prevented FaceTime calls to older devices.
