One year ago, Apple said that it had 900 million iPhones out there in the wild, and a total of 1.4 billion active devices. Well, mark today as another milestone for the company.

Apple announced the first fiscal quarterly earnings for 2020 today. Part of that announcement included Tim Cook’s revealing that Apple now has 1.5 billion active devices out there in the world. Unfortunately, while Cook was willing to share that bit of information, we don’t know if iPhones have cracked the one billion mark on their own quite yet.

But even if that hasn’t happened yet, it should arrive pretty soon.

In related news, iOS 13 is nearing 80% adoption for devices out there in the wild — of which there are many! Apple updated its developer site to reflect the change, indicating that 77% of “all devices introduced in the last four years use iOS 13”. Meanwhile, iOS 12 is sitting at 17% in the same category, and older versions of the mobile operating system are at 6 percent.

That means 70% of all devices in the wild are running iOS 13 now, and 23% are running iOS 12. 7% are running even earlier versions.

iPadOS is seeing plenty of adoption as well. In this category, 79% “of all devices introduced in the last four years use iPadOS”. 19% of devices in this same category are running iOS 12, and 2% even earlier versions of mobile OS.

Meanwhile, “only” 57% of all devices out there in the wild are running iPadOS, 27% are running iOS 12, and 16% are running earlier versions.
