Apple’s carrier billing option for Apple ID purchases has expanded to an additional seven countries around the world. Customers in these countries who don’t have or don’t want to use a credit or debit card for their purchases can now take advantage of mobile phone billing.

This useful billing feature is now supported in these countries via the following carriers:

  • Bahrain (Batelco, VIVA and Zain Bahrain)
  • Cambodia (SmartPay)
  • Croatia (A1)
  • Luxembourg (POST Telecom)
  • Poland (PLAY)
  • Portugal (Vodafone)
  • Romania (Orange)

When used as a payment method, any Apple Music or app subscriptions, plus all your other digital purchases made on App Store, Mac App Store, iTunes Store and iBooks Store, get conveniently charged to your monthly mobile phone bill or deducted from your prepaid amount.

This is a carrier-dependent option—that’s why some major wireless operators in the aforementioned countries don’t yet support the mobile phone billing option. Additional providers will be added at a later stage, if history is an indication.

With today’s expansion, this feature is now available in 38 countries. For the running list of markets where mobile phone billing is currently available, consult Apple’s support document.

Carrier billing can even be used to bill your Apple ID purchases to a different number than your main iPhone number. Just choose the option Use a Different Mobile Number during the setup process, confirm a verification code and you’ll be good to go.
