YouTube scheduled digest is a cool feature that will reduce your notification overload.

What is YouTube scheduled digest?

As the title suggests, it combines all of the individual alerts you’d get from YouTube, such as notifications for new videos from your favorite creators, comments on your own videos and more, organized into a single list delivered daily at the time of your choosing.

Here’s how to set up and use this super handy feature.

How to set up YouTube scheduled digest

To set up your YouTube scheduled digest, do the following:

1) Launch the mobile YouTube app on your iPhone.

TIP: Be sure that you’re running YouTube for iOS version 13.16 or later.

To see the version number of your copy of YouTube for iPhone, open the app, tap your profile image, choose Settings then scroll all the way to the bottom of the page.

2) Tap your profile image in the upper-right corner.

3) Choose Settings from the list.

4) Tap Notifications.

5) Slide the switch labeled Scheduled Digest to the ON position.

This will enable your daily YoTube digest.

6) To set a specific time to receive your scheduled digest, tap this section again.

This will bring up an overlay where you can customize delivery time.

7) Select your custom delivery time, the tap OK.

You can now close out the setting interface.

As evidenced by the screenshot above, YouTube will deliver a single notification once per day at your designated time, titled “Scheduled digest”. Tapping it opens the YouTube app and lands you on the Activity tab where you can view the list of notifications from the past day.

As mentioned, YouTube scheduled digest combines all of the push notifications you’ve elected to receive from YouTube including live streams, upload and comment alerts. As per Google, folks who receive YouTube daily digest may not see a live stream until after it has ended.

Other settings to manage your YouTube time

Google gives you other settings to help cure your YouTube addiction.

With take a break reminders, the app will pull display a prompt when you’ve exceeded a specific amount of consecutive viewing time, ranging from every 15 minutes to every 180 minutes.

Additionally, users can set the start and end times for when all YouTube notifications should be silenced. By default, the app silences all notifications between 10pm and 8am.
